Hi, I'm Tom Atkins. I’ve been a Graphic Designer since earning my Bachelor of Arts degree from Kent State University in 1989. Actually, I’ve been a Graphic Designer since I began drawing as a child. I credit my mom, Carole (Lasky) Atkins, for passing on to me her creativity and artistic talent.
I began my career as a keyliner back before printing was digital. I spent countless hours staring into the bright abyss of a light table, and more hours fermenting amongst the chemicals of a darkroom, creating layouts for business cards and stationary.
Soon into my career came the miracle of digital printing, and I was introduced to my first love: Quark Xpress. This opened the door to multiple page layouts, brochures, posters, and all the cool stuff I was promised I’d be doing after earning my degree. Quark Xpress was the gateway drug to my next obsession: Abobe Photoshop. This also led to Macromedia Freehand, then eventually to the wonderful world of Adobe products offered today.
I’ve had a lot of fun and designed a lot of cool stuff throughout my career. I’ve been in charge, and been the one charged to do all the work... all the time doing what I truly enjoy: creating art.
